IT2Industry 2016 focuses on the digitilization of companies

The most important IT topics and trends in 2016 are IT security, cloud computing and Industry 4.0. That’s the result of a poll as part of the industry indicator ‘BITKOM Branchenbarometer‘, a business survey conducted by the high-tech industry association among ITC (information and telecommunications) companies twice a year.

In response to the question “What does your company regard as the leading technology and market trends that will characterize the German ITC market in 2016?”, the most important aspect mentioned is IT security (59 percent).

This is followed by the subjects of cloud computing (58 percent) and Industry 4.0 (54 percent), the fastest climber in the trend charts. The whole complex that goes to make up the digitization of companies in the course of the fourth industrial revolution was thus classified in the range of IT topics.

The respondents continue to attribute great relevance to big data (51 percent) and the Internet of Things (47 percent), as distinct from Industry 4.0.

A good way behind these come mobile computing (40 percent), smart home (27 percent) and then both social media and digital health (21 percent); the latter is new among the ten most important IT topics of the year.

The IT2Industry 2016 trade fair and Open Conference, which takes place on June 20–24 in parallel with AUTOMATICA at Messe München, focuses its program on all topics that affect the digitization of companies and also takes up further significant aspects of information technology and automation. The range here extends from IoT to IT solutions for process chains, also including robotics, from models of production planning such as lot one production to digital service concepts and new business models.
